About Sean

I love to teach and write, especially about the Bible. Durt on the Bible is my opportunity for me to do both. My goals are to inspire Christians to know God more deeply through the Scriptures, to challenge skeptics with the Bible’s truth, and to encourage seekers to find rest in a relationship with the ultimate Author. The Bible is God’s Word for us – authentic, inerrant, inspired and true. It does not need my defense, however, I will share my reasons for trusting it as the foundation for life and faith.

So who am I to write this? Educationally, I have earned a B.S. in Decision Science from Berry College and a Masters of Divinity in Biblical Languages from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.  For over 20 years, I have taught Bible to all ages including preschool, elementary, middle and high school, college, young adults, median adults and senior adults.  I am currently teaching adults 35-55 at Burnt Hickory Baptist Church in Powder Springs, Georgia.  Teaching the Scriptures is both my passion and gift.

I started writing for publication in 2011 as a hobby. I chose to write primarily for the Yahoo Contributor Network. I have published almost 100 articles there on a wide variety of topics. I have written about my daughter’s mitochondrial disease, marriage, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and politics. I won a 2011 Content of the Year award for an article on my grandparents and a picture that arrived 67 years late. Yahoo shut down the program and removed all the content. Some will transfer to here. I have also been published in a local newspaper (Fayette Citizen). To provide for my family, I have worked in restaurants, ministry, and IT. I am currently a database administrator in “big data” (using Cassandra).

Since 1994, I am married to the best wife a man could have — Melanie. Together we have three children: Aidan, Gwendolyn, and Lincoln.

If you are interested in having me as a speaker or teacher for your event, contact me (seandurity@gmail.com) for availability. I would also welcome writing opportunities.

  3. Hey, just wanted to let you know, you were curious about how “The AnswerMan” page would do? I got an interesting response from someone the other day. We have gone back and forth twice now. Just thought you might want to check it out.

  4. Hey, Sean, we had quite a debate on evolution on the magazine, and the reason I mention it is because a guy by the name of “Benjamight” showed up and really did an excellent job of defending our faith with scientific evidence. He reminded me of you! If you want to check it out, I placed the whole thing on my cowboy site, it is in the header bar, just click on “Evolution Debate” and you got the whole thing. I think you and Benjamight may have a lot in common. I’m trying to learn what he said.

  5. Hi, this is Stephanie from “Heart of a Mother’s Prayers.” I was trying to find a way to contact you through email but don’t see anything. Could you please send me an email at hizchozen@sbcglobal.net, so I can connect with you? This weekend I would like to feature your blog on mine for Father’s Day and just want to be sure that is okay. Thanks!

Sean, I love the fact you are working in the real world, like the rest of us, while you are teaching biblical messages.

  8. Sean, we discovered we had a problem with our PayPal. We believe we now have it fixed as we had someone order the book just to do a test run, and it worked. If money was taken from your account please let me know. My email is truegrit9@yahoo.com. If you send me your address I will send you a copy of the book. I’m so sorry for the confusion, but thanks to you we were able to find out we had a problem. Please let me know what you need to make this right. Thanks.

  9. Hi! Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog and for your encouraging comments! May The Lord richly bless your ministry!

  10. Happy Thanksgiving, brother.
